Understanding Radon Risks
Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas that can seep into homes from the surrounding soil. It’s the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, making it a serious health concern for homeowners (National Cancer Institute).
According to the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), approximately half of the homes tested for radon in Montana have levels at or above the the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) action level. Long-term exposure to elevated radon levels can increase your risk of developing lung cancer. That’s why it’s crucial to have your home tested and, if necessary, implement effective radon mitigation strategies.
